Today is World Lymphoedema Day!

What again is Lymphoedema?

Lymphoedema is a condition that can concern everyone at some point in life but we can’t know it before it happens and we also don’t know much about the implications that can lead to a very unpleasant health condition long-term.

Lymphoedema can occur after an accident, damaging parts of the lymphatic system, after cancer treatment, mostly from radiation and surgery, or you simply can be born with an underdeveloped lymphatic system in the fist place.

The symptoms range from slight discomfort, very often in your limbs, obvious swelling that doesn’t regress by itself anymore, pain and skin changes and if untreated you can experience severe symptoms like cellulites, concerning your whole system to the point that it becomes a life threatening situation for you.

Extreme swelling can also lead to immobility and therefore, impacting your entire life at some stage.

BUT…there are good news…it can be treated!

Manual Lymph Drainage and Compression Garment Therapy are the main interventions that help with the condition, especially it treated early!

Information about both you can find on my website and in recent articles on my NEWS page.
